Course Details
Fridays at 1:30 pm, Starting September 2026 Weekly until May 2027 Location: Payson Disc Golf Course, Forest Road 015, Payson, UT, USA Age Range: 13–18 About the Course With the aim of empowering local communities, Making Tracks' homeschool programs facilitate a consistent practice of wilderness survival skills for kids. Our curriculum is customizable to the community, the student and the environment. There is structure, but still room to explore, grow, and get curious. We encourage students to challenge themselves and push their comfort zone. We will work with everything from knives to fire and learn to do it safely. Expect mud, lots of sticks, and kids coming home tired in the best way. Curriculum and Skills Taught Sit Spot — meditation, journaling, ecology, taxonomy, ethnobotany, morphology, biology, mapping Survival Skills — shelter, water, fire, food, woodworking, leather working, hide tanning, bowery, bone and stone tools, fiber weaving Wandering — nature-based games, aided & aidless navigation, tracking & awareness, bird language, edible & medicinal plants, natural movement Parent Involvement This is a parent-involvement course. Families are required to volunteer a set number of days throughout the year. Details on expectations and scheduling are in our FAQs under Programs.
