Course Details

About the Course Please note this course will run congruent with the pre teen course; at the same time, place location but with a different instructor. The goal is to provide a separate class for teens with additional challenges. The added curriculum to this course will involve keeper roles which will be handed out on the first day of class. Students will be challenged to complete a series of difficult tasks pertaining to a skill of their choice. (i.e. medicine keeper-make a tincture at home and bring it to class) The progress of these roles will be reviewed by Dakota and Erik and achievements will be announced in our monthly newsletter. This is a parent involvement class. See our FAQs for more details on how we organize parent volunteers. *Please note: If we do not get the minimum number of participants for this class it will be canceled. You will have the option to move them to another teen class, place them with the pre teens, or receive a refund. Registration priority between teens/pre-teen classes will be based on who registers first. Parent Involvement This is a parent involvement class; registering for this course requires parents to volunteer a certain number of days throughout the year. Course Objectives We expect students to demonstrate basic outdoor competence by participating in weekly games, activities, workshops and sit spots. Students will demonstrate proficiency in the big 4 (shelter water fire food) by building, carving, and practicing the techniques instructors teach and facilitate during class. Students in this class will be expected to achieve mastery in at least one topic that inspires them by choosing at least 1 keeper role, unlocking and completing all of the assignments.
