Making Tracks is more than a school; it is a collaboration effort. The programs you teach will be facilitated with your schedule and preferences in mind. We will help you to set goals and provide metrics and data to help build a career that fits your lifestyle.

Why is Making Tracks Different?

The Problem

Survivalists don't have many credible career destinations and are widely treated like camp counselors. Despite the fact that hold solutions to most of society’s problems, most outdoor educators are stuck babysitting or doing administrative work. We can’t continue these models and expect real change. Making Tracks provides a way to build an actual career while shifting public consciousness.

The Solution

Making Tracks provides a platform for qualified instructors to build their career to their desired lifestyle. We help with course creation, client development, logistics coordination, marketing and more. We keep our platform lean and practical which keeps our costs to customers low while providing livable wages to our instructors. The nature of the platform allows for varied teaching styles while keeping learning outcomes consistent. All while making the impact the world needs.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role is not just someone who has a passion for the outdoors but also someone who feels a drive to bridge the gap between nature and the modern experience. We aren't looking to go backwards; we need people to help us create a better way forwards. You will fit this position well if you have experience, training, and dirt time in survival settings; we provide training on our method not the content. In order to provide the best experiences for our students we expect candidates applying for the instructor level to be able to teach, facilitate and mentor from a place of mastery. In other words we need to see the philosophy of your skills present in your day to day life.

Working at Making Tracks is about more than teaching survival skills; it's about creating valuable experiences and building communities. The ideal candidate would be expected to Model calm leadership in the outdoors, follow safety protocols, regulate group energy, and instruct without preaching. We need instructors who can communicate clearly with parents, fellow staff, and participants, resolve scheduling issues proactively, and treat feedback as an opportunity not a threat. This candidate is coachable, reflects after class, improves lesson flow and is constantly improving their technical ability. Instructors are required to set boundaries, and set boundaries with families while still being humble enough to listen to their needs.
