Course Details
This scavenger hunt is designed to encourage you to spend time outdoors in a way that will force you to look deeper at things you may not have ever found important. Scavenger hunt tasks and details will be released June 21st, 20206. Here are the rules: 1) You must register for this free course and complete all participant information. 2) Be present and active on the discord channel for this hunt; collaborate with fellow scavengers. 3) Specimens must be found outside in nature between the dates of June 21st, 20206-September 22nd 20206; pets, zoos, aquariums, etc do not count. 4) Each journal entry must come with a photo, complete with metadata that matches your phone, location, time and date of the find. 5) A complete journal entry must include these 5 things: I. A sketch of the specimen II. At least 5 identifying field marks labeled on the sketch III. Habitat range IV. uses/dangers/unique facts V. An accompanying description of the find Note: If the specimen is a location a map will do 6) One person per journal. 7) Parents may help at any part of the process and participate themselves. (we encourage collaboration among scavengers) 8) There is no scavenger age limit. 9) Participants must adhere to all Making Tracks rules as if they were in class and respect and follow all land policies they participate on. 10) The winner is the first one to email a zip file of pictures of their finds accompanied with their corresponding complete journal entries to info@makingtracks.co with the subject titled Scavenger Hunt Winner before September 23rd 20206. Winning Prize: A 100% discount on any single (1) program listed in our catalog with a start date of 2026 for yourself, your siblings, and your parents. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. By registering, you agree to follow all laws; respect private property and all land-manager/property rules (closures, permits, and no-collection policies); and follow all Making Tracks rules and community guidelines. You are solely responsible for supervision, preparedness, travel, and safety, and you agree not to trespass, take unsafe risks, disturb wildlife, damage habitat, or collect/handle/remove any natural or cultural items unless explicitly legal and allowed—when in doubt, photo/sketch only. Making Tracks is not liable for injuries, illness, loss, citations, trespass, or other outcomes from participation.
